Taïm (Waverly Place and 7th Avenue) – tiny spot, so be prepared to take to-go or sit on a stranger's stoop. Amazing falafel (we like harissa the best), Israeli salad and hummus.

Hummus Place (7th Avenue at Bleecker Street) - better known for their - you guessed it - hummus! This place has a good sample of middle eastern foods, and the shakshuka is fabulous - even when delivered.

Mamoun’s (Macdougal and Minetta) – A cheap-eats institution in the village with great (but a bit greasier) falafel. The shawarma is also great.
